This charming historical structure was built in 1848 for Asa Prior, known as the “Father of Cedartown,” who came to Polk County in 1837. The mill operated for almost 100 years, grinding corn and wheat until 1945. After the mill closed, it was renovated and became a noted restaurant for 30 years. Later, it was operated as a special events facility and wedding chapel. For the past 18 years, the building has been a private residence. The building has 5,120 square feet inside. The roof is part metal and part asphalt shingles.

There is a banquet room that can comfortably seat up to 100 people. There is ample parking, restroom facilities, a spacious dance floor, and a large commercial kitchen with a Vulcan commercial gas stove with hood and fire system, an under-the-counter commercial refrigerator, stainless steel counters and sink, a side-by-side residential refrigerator, and remaining pots and pans, racks, glassware, and other kitchen and serving items.

There is a 2,000 sq foot ceremony/banquet room with vintage brick floor, 13 ft wide fireplace, and exposed rustic wooden beams. The all-season patio overlooks Cedar Creek and the dam. You can enjoy the serene surroundings while listening to the rushing waters. There is a large level lawn adjacent to the creek. The Old Mill even had a movie career! The Mill was used as the set for the 1984 TV movie “The Baron and the Kid” starring Johnny Cash and Richard Rountree.

The building has an upstairs event space overlooking the dam with a private bathroom that was once used as a bridal suite with a separate groom’s changing room.
